About Happy Hounds

The Salon

Happy Hounds has been established for nearly 20 years and is well known and respected in the local community.

The business was acquired by me in 2012 and given a total refurbishment so that the facilities now being offered are clean, secure and up to date, with modern bathing and grooming areas, ensuring that we can offer the best possible relaxing experience for the dogs that visit us, whilst also satisfying the needs of you the Owners!

We offer a complete range of services from straightforward bathing and grooming to the more specialised hand stripping and scissor cutting.

A standard groom includes:

  • Nail clipping
  • Ear Cleaning
  • 2 Hot water baths & Conditioning
  • Blow dry
  • Cut/trim to breed standard (or as otherwise pre agreed)

All products used in the salon are natural and organic with NO CHEMICALS used in the salon whatsoever. These Earth Bath products avoid irritation to sensitive skin, act as natural pest repellents, help reduce skin infections and are also safe to use on puppies.

We also offer puppy orientation. If you have a new puppy, why not drop them off with us for a short time just to socialise with the others and get used to the salon prior to coming in for grooming – there is no charge for this service as we feel it is important they get used to the environment at an early age to reduce potential stress.

Grooming prices vary according to the size of the dog, its type of coat and the coat condition. When you visit the salon, your pet will be assessed and your requirements discussed prior to the groom.

We also offer a local "collect & deliver" service if you are unable to get to the salon on your own. There may be a small charge for this additional service.

About Joe

I am a City & Guilds Qualified Groomer holding a Level 3 Qualification with Distinctions and also Higher Diploma Qualifications. I am also a fully Qualified Canine & Feline Hydrotherapist and member of the National Association of Registered Canine Hyrdotherapists.

I have also undertaken and successfully completed courses in :

  • Canine Anatomy & Physiology
  • Understanding Orthopaedic Conditions
  • Understanding Spinal Conditions
  • First Aid for Canine Professionals & Hydrotherapists

I have been a dog owner for many years and currently have a Black Standard Poodle named Ria who is normally always to be found in the salon with me, plus a Miniature Parti Poodle and 2 Chocolate Labradors who spend their time at home with my partner.

I firmly believe in a totally relaxed salon atmosphere – if we are relaxed then so are the animals in our care. We do not cage animals unless specifically requested to do so by you but allow them to play happily in the salon with the other dogs until it is their turn to have a bath.
